They can be used as a standalone substrate or as an addition to other substrates. Mixed with soil, they loosen and aerate it. The chips and coconut fiber are used as substrates in terrariums, aquariums, animal husbandry, and crops, among other applications. Coconut chips are an ideal and recommended substrate for orchid cultivation. Advantages of Coco chips: - they are much lighter than peat, - they absorb water well (they regulate water balance - coconut fibers act like a sponge), - they absorb nutrients supplied with water well and release them gradually, - they facilitate root development, Coconut chips themselves do not contain many nutrients, so if they are to be used for growing plants, it is recommended to combine them with organic fertilizers.
