An early variety with red, sharp-tasting fruit (5000 on the Scoville scale). Its fruit is excellent for preserves, eating raw, and drying. It is especially recommended as a kitchen spice. Sow seeds in March on covered pallets. Prick out seedlings at the one-leaf stage into 7-8 club pots on pallets with 6cm holes. Plant them out in the field in the second half of May, spacing them 40 x 40cm apart. Grow in sunny, sheltered locations in fertile soil.
